Movember Racers - Groomed For Speed
The air will be bristling with anticipation at the media launch of Big Boy Toys, as four highly skilled drivers prepare to battle it out at below average speeds, all in the name of Movember.
Top V8 Motorsport drivers John McIntyre and Tim Edgell will strap themselves into the hot seats as will actor Ben Barrington (from the Almighty Johnsons) and TV personality Jo Holley, as they set off for three laps of walking pace thrills to raise much needed funds and awareness for the Cancer Society and the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
Thanks to Husqvarna New Zealand, the Great Movember ‘Mo Down’ Race will see the appropriately named YTH2242TDRF– a powerful garden tractor with its fender mounted cutting height adjustment and ergonomic steering wheel - put through its paces during the Big Boys Toys event preview on Thursday evening.
Racing driver John McIntyre is looking forward to the low speed challenge. “Considering I own a Ride-On mower and its spring, I feel in good shape for this event. But make, no mistake, this lawnmower race is not as cut and dried as you might think, they are tricky things to drive! But I’m happy to support Movember and do my bit for men’s health.”
Robert Dunne, Project Manager for Movember New Zealand thanked the drivers for their support. “This Movember has had such extraordinary support from all kinds of people and the result is a huge surge in interest and donations,” he said.
Movember is the official charity of Big Boys Toys and the Mo Team will be setting up shop over the three day event at The Rock tent in Pavilion Two.
