1. (SBU) On October 19, PolOff delivered reftel demarche
seeking Greek support for the candidacy of David Walker to
the UN Independent Audit Advisory Committee (IAAC) to MFA D1
International Organizations Deputy Head Ambassador Alexandros
Rallis.
2. (SBU) DepPolCouns discussed the issue further with Rallis
on October 25. Rallis was aware that Spain and Switzerland
had also put forward candidates for the WEOG seat. He said
Greece had decided to support the U.S. candidate and that he
had passed verbal instructions to do so to the Greek UN
mission. He would follow up with written instructions later
in the day.
