1. (U) Summary: The Director of Civil Aviation in Barbados
reported new security measures that have been implemented at
the Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) for the
screening of liquids, gels, and aerosols. The new
requirements were created to establish a uniform plan that
will satisfy American, European, and regional carriers, all
of which previously had varying individual requirements.
Both the Civil Aviation Directorate and BGI will be
responsible for enforcement of the new policy.
2. (U) Persons with carry-on bags may travel with a single
quart-size, zip-lock bag, clear plastic bag containing
liquids, gels and aerosols of no more than 3.4 ounces.
Half-filled larger containers and rolled up toothpaste tubes

bags are also prohibited.
3. (U) Greater quantities will be allowed for persons
traveling with babies and toddlers, as well as persons with
disabilities and medical conditions. Allowable items
include: baby formula and breast mile; all prescription and
over-the-counter medications such as eye drops and saline

used to augment the body for medical or cosmetic reasons,
such as mastectomy products, prosthetic breasts, bras or
