1. Embassy PolOff delivered reftel information to the MFA's
Security and Non-Proliferation Department Head, Vilmos
Hamikus, on October 25. Hamikus stated he will pass the
information on to the Finance Ministry as well as ensuring
the Trade Licensing Office receives the information. Hamikus
noted that Hungary is very attentive to restrictions on trade
with Iran and makes every effort to ensure the GOH does not
inadvertently "slide down the slippery slope" by failing to
abide by UN and EU sanctions.
2. Pol/Econ Counselor will further emphasize the U.S.
designations related to Iranian entities and individuals in a
meeting October 26 with the Prime Minister's Security and
Foreign Policy Advisor, Karoly Banai.
