Poloff delivered reftel demarche on October 22 to Luis
Carranza, Director of Multilateral Policy in the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. Carranza told poloff that Guatemala cannot
support U.S. candidate David Walker for the UN Independent
Audit Advisory Committee because it had already committed to
another candidate from the Americas. He said there was
consensus on the Americas candidate and that the U.S.
candidate was presented too late for the November 2 election.
