Scoop Link: Tomato truck becomes vehicle of death
By Kate Kelland
DOVER, England (Reuters) - British customs officials were suspicious from the moment they spotted the white Mercedes truck rolling off the late-night ferry from the Belgian port of Zeebrugge.
The name on the side of the 18-metre (yard) sealed truck was not one they recognised as a regular on the route.
After questioning the Dutch driver they ordered him to back his truck into bay nine of the customs inspection shed.
"When they opened the door they saw bodies and tomatoes," a police spokesman said on Monday.
Under the dim yellow light hanging from the corrugated iron and perspex roof, the officers searched deeper and deeper into the truck.
