Gun shots continuing at Army Barracks
Issue No: 165; 2 November 2000
Local residents and the local radio stations have reported that there are guns hosts continuing at the Nabua military barracks.
Reports stated that gun shots started at 1pm and were continuing at 1.40, the latest when the radio reported developments. The barrack was closed and all phone lines to the barracks were dead. The radio reported that the CRW soldiers are firing shots at other soldiers. No other details are available but it is believed by the media that the CRW soldiers are trying to take over the barracks. A part of the CRW group was recently released by the military after being detained for the terrorist-style takeover of the Parliament Complex. One soldier has been taken to the CWM hospital in Suva with gun shots to his abdomen.
