$60 For Terrorism, Assault, And Vehicle Theft
Issue No: 260 5 December 2000
Two terrorists yesterday were fined $60 each by the Labasa Magistrates Court for terrorising a Labasa family, assaulting the family members, and stealing the family vehicle.
The duo were given 2 weeks to pay the fines by the Labasa Magistrate Eparama Rokoika. The Seaqaqa family was attacked during the hostage crisis at their home in Seaqaqa.
Rokoika was appointed a magistrate only weeks ago. He was first appointed a magistrate after the 1987 military coups. He later left the magistracy for an agricultural tribunal job.
Rokoika has been known for treating terrorists in Labasa with utmost leniency.
