Land Policy Misinformation By Regime
Issue No: 284 1 December 2000
The regime and its agents have been deliberately misinforming the nation about the People's Coalition Government's land policies.
Government's Assistant Minister for Information, Lekh ram Vayeshnoi states that "much disinformation has also been given out on the land issue and Alta. The truth is that the People's Coalition Government put no pressure on anyone to renew land leases.".
He says that the People's Coalition Government "was the first government" to start formal negotiation with both, the Native Lands trust Board and the Great Council of Chiefs. Early indications were very positive.
He further states that despite the propaganda to the contrary, the Great Council of Chiefs had accepted the government's proposal on the Land Use Commission.
