Downing St Tuesday 22 October Briefing
Tuesday 22 October afternoon government press briefing
IRAQ
Asked for an update on the new UN Resolution on Iraq, the PMOS said that a draft text was currently circulating among the P5 in New York. A discussion was expected to take place at the Security Council today. Clearly we were moving forward, but it was difficult to put a precise timescale on when a Resolution might be tabled to the fifteen members of the UN. It could be quite soon. Questioned as to whether the issue of Iraq would be discussed at the European Council in Brussels on Thursday and Friday, the PMOS said he had no doubt it would.
