MAJOR GENERAL

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president made the following nominations:

Marine Corps Brigadier General Tony L. Corwin has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Corwin is currently serving as the legislative assistant to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.

Marine Corps Brigadier General Jon A. Gallinetti has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Gallinetti is currently serving as the commander, Marine Corps Air Bases Western Area, San Diego.

Marine Corps Brigadier General Thomas L. Moore, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Moore is currently serving as the director for Operations, Plans, Logistics, and Engineering, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.

BRIGADIER GENERAL

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric K. Shinseki announced today that Army Brigadier General Gerald P. Minetti is being assigned as deputy director, Logistics Readiness Center, the Joint Staff and mobilization assistant to the director, J-4, Washington, D.C. Minetti is currently assigned as deputy director for Logistics, J-4, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

Marine Corps Colonel John R. Allen has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Allen is currently serving as commandant of midshipmen, U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md.

Marine Corps Colonel Thomas L. Conant has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Conant is currently serving as head, Aviation Plans, Programs, Joint Matters, and Budget Branch, Department of Aviation, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.

Marine Corps Colonel Joseph V. Medina has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Medina is currently serving as commanding officer, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Marine Corps Colonel Robert E. Schmidle has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Schmidle is currently serving as the military secretary to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.

Marine Corps Colonel Thomas D. Waldhauser has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Waldhauser is currently serving as commanding officer, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.
