SECRETARY OF THE ARMY THOMAS E. WHITE
RESIGNS
Secretary Thomas E. White today submitted his resignation as Secretary of the Army. Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld expressed his appreciation to Secretary White for his long and able service to the country, first as a career U.S. Army officer and then as Secretary of the Army for the past two years.
The effective date of his resignation is to be determined.
