A Fourth Victim Of The Israeli Army In Biddu
21 years-old Mohamed Saleh Bedwan died this morning in Ramallah hospital after 6 days on life support.
[Biddu, NW Jerusalem] Mohamed Saleh Bedwan who was shot in the head by the Israeli Army last week during the demonstration against the Apartheid Wall in Biddu passed away this morning. He has been on life support since February 26, 2004 in Ramallah hospital. The funeral are scheduled at noon today, at the mosque of Biddu and villagers from surrounding area and Internationals will join to show solidarity with the family. He is the fourth victim of the military repression of the demonstration, following Zacharia Mahmoud, Mohamed Rayan and Abu Nabil Abu Eid.
Biddu villagers' along with other villages, were heading to At-Tira, another village of the northwestern cluster of Jerusalem, to prevent the bulldozers from destroying more farmlands due to the construction of the Wall. The nonviolent demonstration was called off after the announce of the passing away of the 21-year-old boy.
The Israeli army launched the work around the Wall in At-Tira yesterday, March 02, 2004, only 2 days after the Israeli Supreme Court issued an order to cease work for seven days on all sites where bulldozers worked last week in the Biddu, Beit Surik region. At-Tira is not among the villages concerned by the decision of the Supreme Court. Therefore, community leaders asked for surrounding villages support and an international presence in the village yesterday as they expected bulldozers to start working anytime soon.
Today, the villagers will mourn their dead
while the bulldozers of the Israeli Army will continue
destroying more Palestinian farmlands to build the Wall of
Apartheid in the northwestern region of Jerusalem.
