Beituniya Residents Mobilized Against The
Wall
Residents stand to lose over 10,000 dunums of land due to the construction of the Wall
[Beituniya, RAMALLAH] On Friday, April 9, 2004, Internationals and Israeli activists will join the residents of Beituniya in their nonviolent protest against the construction of the wall on their land. The whole community will gather at 12:30 in front of the Municipality Council and then will march peacefully to the site where the wall is expected to be built. No work is expected to take place on Friday during the march.
Residents from Beituniya held their first protest against the wall on the Land Day, March 30, 2004 where the Israeli army used excessive violence to disperse the crowd. At least 1,560 dunums will be destroyed only due to the clearing of the path of the wall. So far, residents of Beituniya estimate that over 400 fruit trees have been uprooted due to the construction work. Over 10,000 dunums of the town land will fall on the other side of the wall and be eventually inaccessible for the residents.
Beituniya community remain mobilized in their protest against the construction of the wall on their lands.
