Anti-Wall Protest In Beitunia
Anti-Wall Protest In Beitunia
Residents of Beitunia remain steadfast in their struggle against the Wall
[Beitunia, RAMALLAH] On Friday April 16, 2004, international activists will join the residents of Beitunia in their protest against the construction of the Apartheid wall throughout their lands. Protestors will gather at 12:30PM in front of the Municipality Council of Beitunia to head to the worksite and stop the bulldozers.
Residents of Beitunia stand to lose most of their farmland due to the construction of the Apartheid wall. The Israeli army bulldozers will destroy at least 1,560 dunums for the clearing of the path of the wall. Residents of Beitunia estimated that the Israeli army bulldozers uprooted over 400 fruit trees during the past three weeks of construction. Over 10,000 dunums of the town farmland will fall on the other side of the wall and be eventually inaccessible for the residents.
Over the past three weeks, the Israeli army has consistently repressed the demonstrations held in Beitunia with excessive violence, imposing curfew on the town after the last demonstration on Friday, April 9, 2004 as a measure of collective punishment.
The Palestinian community of Beitunia is asking for your participation in their struggle against the destruction of their land and livelihood.
