Indonesian Navy Ships To Visit Australia

The Indonesian Navy will be visiting Darwin and Perth during October, reciprocating Royal Australian Navy ship visits to Indonesian ports and highlighting the strengthening relationship between our two countries' Navies.

Two Indonesian Navy vessels, the fast patrol boat KRI HIU and the corvette KRI TJIPTADI will visit Darwin from 10 to 13 October. More than one hundred Indonesian Naval officers and sailors will enjoy a brief period of rest and recreation in Darwin, before returning to Indonesia.

The second visit will occur from 14 to 17 October. Three ships will visit HMAS STIRLING in Perth - the frigate KRI KAREL SATSUITTUBUN, the corvette KRI FATAHILA and the oiler/replenishment tanker KRI ARUN. The three ships carry a total crew of more than five hundred officers and sailors.

Commodore Agus Suhartono, Commander of the Command Task Group, will lead the ships into HMAS STIRLING. While in Perth, HMAS MELBOURNE will conduct in-port training with the three Indonesian ships and will conduct a 24 hour training activity with the ships when they depart HMAS STIRLING.

Reciprocal ship visits foster maritime cooperation with Australia's regional neighbours. Combined training activities improve interoperability skills between the Australian and Indonesian Navies.
