Opposition to current U.S. conduct in U.N.

Calling on U.S. groups who oppose the way the U.S. government is currently interacting with the UN

A group of non-governmental organisations based on the United States have drafted a letter to President Bush expressing their “concern at the United States position regarding this month's United Nations Summit”.

The letter –drafted by ActionAid International, Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy and Women's Environment and Development Organization, among others- denounces that the U.S. position, in relation with the proposed Outcome Document for the World Summit, is “undermining a historic effort to end global poverty, promote peace and strengthen the United Nations that has virtually universal international support”.

Promoters are looking for signatures from all and any U.S. organizations and religious groups who support this statement (not individual names). Signatures will be accepted up until Tuesday, September 6th at midnight. The letter will be sent to President Bush on Thursday, September 8, with a copy to the Foreign Relations Committees of the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Delegation to the UN World Summit and all UN Missions in New York.
