Director of Public Prosecutions, Northern Territory Australia, request delay of WOLF CREEK
Not for publication or broadcast in Northern Territory Australia.
Roadshow Films Australia has been contacted
by Public Prosecutions, Northern Territory, in relation to
the film “Wolf Creek”, requesting that Roadshow delay the
theatrical release of the film in the Northern Territory of
Australia.
The request was made after Roadshow arranged a screening of “Wolf Creek” for the Office of Public Prosecutions in Darwin.
Following the screening, the Director of Public Prosecutions relayed concerns of the trial judge that the film not be released in the Northern Territory of Australia during a trial that begins next week. Roadshow is considering the request.
“Wolf Creek”, the directorial debut for Melbourne filmmaker Greg McLean, tells the story of three young backpackers who experience a terrifying journey after being abducted in the isolated Australian outback. Starring John Jarratt, Nathan Phillips, Cassandra Magrath and Kestie Morassi, it is scheduled to release in cinemas across Australia on November 3, 2005.
The film is scheduled for release in New Zealand on February 9, 2006
