New Lucas Heights reactor puts Sydney at risk
Today's revelations about alleged terrorists and Lucas heights underscore why there should be no new reactor built in Sydney, Greens MLC Ian Cohen said today.
"Sydney-siders do not need such an obvious terrorist target in their backyard," Mr Cohen said.
"Having a nuclear reactor smack in the middle of a heavily populated residential area just isn't common sense.
"The whole nuclear industry with the waste it produces and the transport it requires is dangerous in itself. Add the threat of terrorism and it is reckless for our Governments to continue to back the nuclear cycle.
