Qalandya Checkpoint Protest Joins Worldwide Outcry
Today, Saturday 19th November at the Qalandya checkpoint Palestinians, Israelis and internationals join the worldwide outcry against Israeli apartheid as part of the "International Week Against the Apartheid Wall." Protestors in opposition to the Apartheid Wall will meet at the Qalandya Refugee Camp entrance at 1pm followed by a march to the Qalandya checkpoint.
Israel's Apartheid Wall Project is designed to make the Palestinian state unviable. The Apartheid Wall and related projects will confiscate 46% of the West Bank to Israel. The Qalandya checkpoint isolates Ramallah from Ar-ram and Jerusalem, effectively strangling the Palestinian economy. No state can exist as separate Bantustans surrounded by walls and gates!
The International Week Against the Apartheid Wall was first called for by Palestinian grassroots committees in June of 2003. Since then popular resistance in Palestine and anti-racist, anti-occupation and anti-colonialist movements in some 30 countries have taken up the annual call for protest against the Apartheid Wall.
