No to Women's Oppression

No to Women's Oppression!

8 March in Tehran
OWL's Live TV programmes

Thursday, is 8th March, International Women's Day. It is a day of protest. It is our day. It is a day to protest against women's oppression! It is a day to claim women's freedom! We say "No to Women's Oppression"! On this day, we must declare that we do not accept the slightest discrimination between men and women! We say equality between men and women is the measure of society's freedom! On this day we must shout "No to the veil"! Islamic veil is prison for women. It is the symbol of women's suppression by political Islam. On this day we declare "NO to Gender Apartheid"; "Zero Tolerance for gender segregation" and "No to religious state". 8 th March is our day! We tell the world that the movement for women's liberation in Iran is strong, active and will not rest till women's liberation and equality between men and women is achieved.

Organisation for Women's Liberation urges all to support the call by women's liberation movement in Iran to gather outside the Tehran University building on Thursday 8 th March 2007 at 4.30pm. We urge all activists of women's liberation to organise a big gathering in front of the university and take part in the march towards the "Daneshjoo Park". Let's turn this day into a great day of protest for women's liberation.

To maximise the political impact of this day, the Organisation for Women's Liberation will have live TV programmes presented by Ali Javadi on Wednesday 7 th and Thursday 8th March. They will be broadcast on satellite network Channel One. The Wednesday programme will be between 9 and 11 pm Tehran time, and the Thursday programme will be between 11.30 pm and 12.30 am Tehran time. We urge all activists to let us know the details of their events so we can publicize them in these programmes.
