Tony Blair reflects on 10 years as PM
Being Prime Minister has been a "privilege" Mr Blair said on the tenth anniversary of the General Election which brought him into office.
He told GMTV he felt proud, when opening a new school or hospital, that the Government had invested in the public services.
"When you get things done... if you go and open a new health centre or school or just recently on Northern Ireland when it finally came together - those are great moments and then you have very difficult moments too."
Praising the Chancellor for his handling of the economy, Mr Blair said:
"One of the things I very much hope will be part of the legacy of the Government is the strongest economy in the Western world."

As PM there were
difficult decisions to make every day, he added, but he had
enjoyed the ten years enormously.
When questioned about his future plans, having previously announced that he would step down as Prime Minister this summer, Mr Blair replied:
"I'll make my position clear next week, I'll say something definitive then."
