International Sand Sculpture Festival, FIESA 2007, opened to the public, 7 of June and received in its first day about three thousand visitors, exceeding the expectations of the organization.
The Festival takes place in Portugal, and presents, in
35.000 tons of sand, about fifty mega sand sculptures,
constructed according to the theme "Wonders of the World".

as well as modern, and the Natural Wonders of the Planet, in
its giant 15.000 m2 set up.

Exposition is divided to five different areas that correspond to the five continents. FIESA is considered as the biggest sand sculpture event of the world, and recently a gathering place of some of the most internationally recognized sand sculptors. This year participate 55 international carvers on FIESA, and sand city is constructed on total of 35 work days.
Until the 15 of June four artists continue to carving demonstration areas, to give the chance for the curious public to experience the construction process.

FIESA will be open to the public until the seven of October, every day, 10 am to 12 pm and integrates a vast program of cultural animation and activities during the summer.
