Masri: Hamas ready to cease fire and return to negotiations
GAZA, (PIC)-- MP Mushir Al-Masri, secretary of the Hamas parliamentary bloc, on Wednesday affirmed that his Movement was ready to cease fire in the Gaza Strip and to return to negotiations with Fatah faction.
The Hamas lawmaker was commenting on a call by Fatah leader Ahmed Hillis for an immediate ceasefire. Masri said, however, that honourable people in Fatah, "such as Hillis" regrettably could not restrain the mutiny trend within their faction.
He said that honourable people in Fatah no longer have an influence on that trend, which all now know is responsible for all violations of truce agreements signed by the two movements.
The MP, speaking to Quds Press, said that Fatah's decision to suspend participation in the unity government was marginal, noting that Hamas was keen on the success of the unity government but also believes that each faction has the full right to remain or bolt the government.
Big efforts and Egyptian mediation bids are ongoing to patch differences but the mutiny trend is insisting on carrying out the conspiracy benefiting from American financial and military support, Masri noted, describing the trend as "desperate".
