Aussie Hero Gives New Maserati Its First Public Outing

Australian Superbike hero, Troy Bayliss, the reigning World Superbike Champion, has given the new Maserati GranTurismo its first ‘on the road’ public appearance at the weekend (24 June 2007) when he blasted Maserati’s new super car up the historic hill climb at the 2007 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

More than 150,000 spectators braved the incessant British summer rain to watch Bayliss put the GranTurismo through its paces on the track during the Supercar Run section of a programme that annually attracts the best road and racing cars from around the world.

Bayliss shared the driving duties with two other superstars that amply illustrate the range and level of people attracted to Goodwood. Nick Mason, drummer with rock legends Pink Floyd and a keen collector and racer of historic cars was joined by super model Jodie Kidd, who is as talented on the race track as the cat walk, to take turns to rocket up the race track in the GranTurismo.

The Maserati GranTurismo will make its down under debut at the Australian International Motor Show in October and deliveries will start in both Australia and New Zealand during November.
