‘Apec = Poverty & Misery’ Says Asia-Pacific Civil Society
21 Asia-Pacific civil society representatives will deliver an open letter to the APEC Leaders who are meeting tomorrow. The statement condemns APEC for pursuing corporate profit not human development.
Convenor, Tony Tujan, said: ‘John Howard tells us that APEC reduces poverty. But APEC is entirely dominated by business interests. There is nothing on the APEC agenda for the 900 million people in the region who live on less than $2 a day.’
The statement will be launched at 11:30am today 6 September at the Independent Media Centre, Ground floor, Unions NSW, 377 Sussex Street.
