Worlds Largest Sand Sculpture Supports Darfur
Worlds largest sand sculpture festival supports solidarity action for Darfur.
A solidarity action for the victims of the conflict that happening in Darfur, will take place on Saturday 22, between the 6:00 pm and the 11.00, in the International Sand Sculpture Festival (FIESA), in Portugal.

The action is promoted by the Center of Education for the Maintainable Development, and all the incomes of FIESA during the event, that includes entrances and sale of allusive material to the festival, will be donated for the charities in Darfur (Oxfam, International, and Caritas of Portugal). Starting from the 7:00pm there will be Informative Session and videos will be exhibited on Darfur, where already 400.000 people lost the life and 2.5 million refugees exist.
This year Festivals 5th edition exhibits in 35.000 tons of sand, about fifty mega sand sculptures, constructed according to the theme "Wonders of the World". Exhibition represents most ancient wonders of the old world, as well as modern, and the Natural Wonders of the Planet, in 15.000 m2 area.
FIESA 2007 opened to the public, 7 of June and received until now 160 thousand visitors, exceeding the expectations of the organization. Festival will be closed to public 7 of October with the demolition ceremony.
