The Chand Raat Eid Festival is a yearly event where the people from various communities get together and celebrate the joys of Eid ul Fitr (the annual religious event in the Islamic calendar).
It is a traditional celebration. Chand Raat, which means 'night of the moon' in the Urdu/Hindi language, marks the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid ul Fitr.
The festival is an opportunity for families to get together, do their Eid shopping and eat delicious foods from variety of stalls. The community groups and individuals place stalls for clothes, jewelry, henna, bangles, shoes, food, toys and many other traditional items.
It also provides the opportunity for many Australians unaware of such festivities to experience and enjoy the various cultural exhibitions. The event also provides children amusements, raffle draws and prizes.
The entry to the event is free. For further details about the event visit our website www.chandraat.net
