Israeli Military Continue House Occupation In Marda
The Israeli military have continued to occupy a house in Marda, in the Salfit region, which is home to four families (15 adults and 10 children). They have been there since around 10am this morning. At around 9pm, the Israeli army began firing teargas into the house where the women and children were, causing wide spread panic.
The soldiers occupying the house have been firing flares into the sky consistently, while also firing ammunition into the village.
In addition, Israeli forces continue to hold the village under curfew, patrolling the village and preventing freedom of movement. It is believed at least one person has been arrested, one person has feinted, and possibly another injured in another part of the village. The Israeli army has been firing on ambulances in the area.
There has been an announcement over the mosque speakers calling for the village to gather at the occupied house. The Israeli army invaded the village earlier this month, and villagers also gathered to demonstrate in front of an occupied house then, resulting in the army leaving the village. Human Rights Workers (HRWs) in the area say the situation is extremely tense.
At the end of the day soldiers wired shut the occupied house. The wiring was later cut open and most people have left. There are a handful of women remaining, with one HRW staying with them. Conflicting stories have been received by HRWs as to how long the army will stay, between one and three days.
