Four Policemen, 25 Militants Killed in Southern Afghanistan
A roadside bomb has killed four Afghan police officers and injured two others in southern Afghanistan. Police say the officers were traveling in the southern province of Ghazni when the bomb exploded Sunday.
Taliban militants have claimed responsibility for the attack.
Separately, Afghanistan's Interior Ministry says police and international troops killed 25 Taliban during fighting in neighboring Uruzgan province on Saturday.
This year has been the deadliest in Afghanistan since a U.S.-led invasion ousted the Taliban government in 2001. Taliban militants have established strongholds in the south and east, attacking U.S. and NATO troops and Afghan soldiers in ambushes and suicide bombings.
