Navy To Sponsor George Bass Surfboat Marathon Launch
What: Captain Mark Hill, Royal Australian Navy, with Bert Hunt, Support Surf Life Saving (SSLS) Group, will officially announce the Navy sponsorship of the George Bass Surfboat Marathon. The male and female Vikings team will be on-hand. A light breakfast will be available.
Where: Grevillea Park, accessible via Morshead Drive, Russell, near the Boathouse on Lake Burley Griffin.
When: 8:15 am on Wednesday 28 November 2007.
Background: Navy is the naming rights sponsor of this year's George Bass Surfboat Marathon.
The marathon is a biannual event in which both male and female surfboat crews compete over a consecutive period of seven days, rowing their surfboats along 180km of the south coast of New South Wales from Bateman's Bay to Eden between 30 December 2007 and 5 January 2008.
