Commander Of The US Pacific Fleet Visits Singapore
Introductory Visit by Commander US Pacific Fleet
The Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet (Commander PACFLT), Admiral Robert Willard, is visiting Singapore from 2 to 4 December 2007 for his official introductory visit. Admiral Willard called on Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean and Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek this morning.
Admiral Willard's visit underscores the excellent defence relationship between the United States and Singapore, and the long-standing co-operation between the US PACFLT and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).
The RSN and US PACFLT interact extensively through visits, bilateral and multilateral exercises, and professional exchanges. These interactions have served to enhance interoperability between the two Navies, as well as the professional rapport and friendship between their personnel.
As part of the visit programme, Admiral Willard also called on Chief of Navy Rear Admiral Chew Men Leong, and visited the Tuas Naval Base.
