Gordon Brown welcomes Romanian PM
Gordon Brown has welcomed Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu to Downing Street.
Speaking to journalists after the bilateral talks, Mr Brown said discussions had centred on the upcoming EU Council and on formulating a coordinated EU approach to the "challenge" of globalisation.
The PM said that EU leaders hope to agree a statement on how the EU should manage economic benefits, environental changes and security issues.
Mr Brown also said that the UK and Romania would hold a bilateral investment conference to help boost trade and investment between the two countries.
Mr Brown and Mr Popescu-Tariceanu will both attend the EU Council in Brussels on 14 December.
