Statement On Progress Of Constitutional Reform In Solomon Islands
This statement is in reference to the Head Line on Island Sun, Issue No. 158 dated Friday 15th February 2008 entitled “STATE GOVERNMENT OUT”.
This is to correct the assumption expressed therein that the question of State Government is dead under the CNURA Government.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet wishes to assure the public that the State Government issue is still CNURA Government top priority.
This can be seen under Part One of the Policy Translation, Public Sector Management, under the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
It can be seen under page 21 of the CNURA Policy Translation, 1.12, Expected Outcome.
The CNURA Government therefore, wishes to assure the public and in particular, the Provincial Governments that the question of introduction of State Government in Solomon Islands is well in advance.
The processes and progress to advance the project are well under control.
It is possible that the completion and introduction of the Federal Constitution to allow for the introduction of State Government system in Solomon Islands may happen within the term of office of CNURA Government.
