New Zealand Red Cross China earthquake appeal
New Zealand Red Cross is accepting donations for the China earthquake fund. Monetary donations can be made at any Red Cross office throughout New Zealand, sent to PO Box 12-140, Wellington, or via our website at www.redcross.org.nz.
Donors can be assured that every cent given to the China earthquake fund will go directly to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (the Federation), who will target the money, via the Red Cross Society of China, to help those who need it most.
The Federation has already released 250,000 CHF (NZD $312,000) from its Disaster Relief Emergency Fund to support the Red Cross Society of China in delivering immediate assistance to those affected by the earthquake.
The Red Cross Society of China, who has launched a national appeal, has an extensive nationwide network of tens of thousands staff and volunteers who are working with Chinese emergency services to bring assistance to those affected by the earthquake. The distribution of relief supplies including tents for 500 families, 5,000 quilts, 300 boxes of water purification tablets and 600 boxes of food parcels is underway.
