Calm Agreement Is A Victory For Hamas, Says Hamas

2008-06-29

Calm agreement is a victory for Hamas

1- How do you read the recent agreement of calming with the Zionist enemy? Is it a gain for Hamas and confirms that they are obstinate to fracture?

It is a benefit to our people and all Palestinian resistance factions, the agreement is represent a victory for the will of the Palestinian resistance, the Palestinian people sacrificed with all means of sacrificing and it need a calm period to recharge his power.

Secondly, this agreement is consider a fiasco to the blockade policy against the Palestinian policy, and the policy of weakening Hamas.

2- Do you expect the endurance of the calm agreement especially that the Zionist enemy confirms that the truce is fragile and short?

Steadfastness of the agreement or not depends on the extent of the commitment of the Zionist occupation forces, and stoppage all forms of aggression.

3- If the agreement collapsed for any reason, do you expect Zionist incursion to Gaza Strip, or is this unexpected?

All possibilities are open, and the Zionist entity agreed to calm under the pressure of the situation on the ground, and after the martyrdom operation against the Zionist settlements near Gaza strip.

But the Zionist reneged for the agreement is sure as we saw in the previous days, in that time, we have nothing but to defend ourselves.

4- Are there any secret items between you and Egypt - outside the agreement of calm regarding the opening of Rafah crossing? When crossing will open permanently?

There are no secret items outside the agreement, and about opening the crossing, we will discuss and talk in this issue with all parts in the next period.

5- After President Abbas calling for reconciliation and after a visit to Fatah delegation to Gaza for the first time, do we can say that the differences between Fatah and Hamas in its way to be solve?

We welcomed the recent initiative of President Abbas for reconciliation. We wish that his initiative to be accompanied with a change in his policy on the ground.

6- What are Hamas movement conditions for the return of Fatah to Gaza? Do we expect new elections?

As for the return of Fatah movement to Gaza; there are no conditions for this return, and Fatah exists in Gaza and it didn't leave the Strip as an organization as the recent visit by a delegation to Gaza is an obvious evidence, Fatah delegation met with the movement leaders, and the recent visit was preceded by another visit before several months to one of the members of the Legislative council from Ramallah to Gaza.

If you intended the return of controlling Fatah movement to Gaza Strip, we say: that there are several legitimacies, the legitimacy of the President; we recognize it and the legitimacy of the Legislative Council and Government, which was formed and won by the elections, so we have to deal with these legitimacies together, and this is what is supposed to be discussed by the Palestinian national dialogue. Regarding the early elections, we will discuss this issue it in future dialogues, especially since we have the worthiness of the presidential elections which has almost been ended.

7- A source quoted a statement as the issue of holding Egypt file of reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas "has not been decided yet" and there is more than Egyptian mediation regarding this?

We Have not abandoned the Egyptian mediation regarding the issue of reconciliation; however, we repeated the demand from Egyptian to open this file and to start with practical actions, but the Egyptian vision says that reconciliation requires pavements such as: calm, opening Rafah crossing, and the file of the abducted Zionist soldier, Gilad Shalit.

Perhaps the reality pressure on the overall political situation has moved many of the parties to mediation, that at the commission of reconciliation has moved domestically, the businessman Munib Al-Masri, the Popular and Democratic fronts, the Sudan, Yemen and Senegal due to its presidency of the OIC , the Arab Parliament and many others.

Anyway, Hamas did not reject any of the initiatives, but we are with a direct dialogue under the auspices of national and Arab states.

8- Have the crisis ended between you and Egypt which resulted after breaking Rafah crossing?

I think this has no longer put in the bilateral meetings and Egypt is reassured the movement policies in this issue, we do not want the existence of any clouds in the bilateral relations.

However, this needs a reciprocity in vision and application, in addition of evaluating the needs of people in Gaza Strip and the location of Rafah crossing for them "Gaza Strip people" is as the only crossing which connects them with the outer world meanwhile the siege imposed by the Zionist entity.
