Statement of the West Papuan Taskforce

Biak-West Papua, July, 2nd, 2008

BLOODY BIAK 1998-2008

Statement of the West Papuan Taskforce - Biak Region

& the West Papuan Women’s Solidarity, Biak

We are here to commemorate the West Papuan Heroes and Victims, who were slaughtered, killed, murdered and made to disappear 10 years ago here in Biak and to stop the torture, the ill-treatment, the abuse and violations against the Human Rights and the Humanity of the West Papuan People in our own Homeland – West Papua – given to us by the Almighty Lord.

Early in the morning, at 3.00am, on 2nd July 1998, “The Morning Star Flag of West Papua” was hoisted on the Biak water tower. Our flag was still flying until the day we now call “BLOODY BIAK” Monday, 6th July1998. That Bloody day cost many human lives, many West Papuan women were sadistically raped and killed and made to disappear. Some we know about, but some we don’t. We were helpless on that day. Everyone had to run for his or her own life.

This is the message we want to send today to the Indonesian government:

“Don’t kill your soul-mates, your fellow humans, any more in this country!!!”

“Stop killing the West Papuan People!”

“We want to live in peace in our Own Country!”

“We have the same red blood like you”

“Indonesia: stop killings, harshness, intimidation, criminality and Human Rights abuses and violations against the West Papuan People!”

This is the message we want to send today to the West Papuan People:

“Stay strong! Keep our Unity and Solidarity to fight against every kind and form of criminality and wickedness done by this Colonial Ruler, Indonesia!”

“Work day and night to make West Papua in general and Biak especially as a “LAND OF PEACE”

Here in Biak, we pray for the safety of the West Papuan People as Colonized People of the Colonial Indonesia, that the Lord will give a human heart to the Indonesian Leadership, from the President up to the village heads, especially the military, and that the Lord with bring the Indonesian Government and the Military consciousness that they do not have any right to kill and murder the West Papuan People in any kind of way and that the West Papuan People are also People, created by the Almighty Lord, which might not be “hunted like animals” to be used as “shooting targets” or for “shooting sports”.

The West Papuan People are People who love, have respect for and accept everyone as our fellow human beings. We only want to live on our own land, the LAND OF PAPUA -- in PEACE.

This is the message we want to send today to People of the United Kingdom and all the World:

“We need you to spread the news about the abuses and harshness and torture in West Papua so it is known worldwide. When you do that, we pray that will influence the human heart of the International World to release West Papua from this inhumane, cold-blooded Colonizer full of disaster.”

GOD BLESS WEST PAPUA. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
