Fiji: Taskforce on outsourcing services
The Media Liaison Officer with Ministry of Health, Ms Vasiti Ritova says a Task Force has been set up to look into the proposal of conducting familiarity meetings on outsourcing various services at the major divisional hospitals around the country.
Consisting of managers from the Ministry of Health, Women and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Public Enterprise and the Public Service Commission (PSC),the task force is working closely to put together a strategy that will propose the way forward for outsourcing functions.
Ms Ritova added as part of the familiarisation process, meetings have been held with workers at the various hospitals to seek clarification on their future and implications if any to the ministry.
"The meeting will allow all workers in these categories to ask questions on the objectives, processes and implications of outsourcing the services and will also allow members of the Task Force to explain fully to them the way forward, as per the way arrangement discussed at Government level on the issue," the Media Liason Officer and Task Force Member said.
Services that will be outsourced are laundry, security and cleaning services.
