Bomb Attacks, Iraq: UK Foreign Secretary Statement
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (UK)
Bomb attacks in Baghdad and Kirkuk, Iraq
The Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, on today's attacks in Iraq:
"The attacks that took place today in Baghdad and Kirkuk are cowardly and reprehensible, and my thoughts are with the families of the dead and those injured. The terrorists hope to undo the progress that Iraq is making. But I am confident that the people of Iraq will not be bullied into giving up their hard-won rights to democratic and religious freedom.
"As the Prime Minister made clear last week, we remain committed to supporting the Iraqi Government as it develops an independent, prosperous, and democratic country free of terrorist violence, secure within its borders and a stable presence in the region."
