Overseas Voters Told To Use Sample Ballots

Los Angeles County Overseas and Military Voters Instructed to Use Sample Ballots as Official Ballots

Overseas Vote Foundation Offers Back-up “Vote-Print-Mail” Ballot

September 30, 2008, MUNICH: The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk began mailing military and overseas voters their ballots beginning the week of September 5, 2008 and will continue mailing them until October 28.

A spokesperson from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s Office stated that "General Election ballots were sent out to military and overseas voters and they will continue to be as requests come in. Voters may not have received a ballot card because ballots were not received from the printer until after September 5th when overseas and military ballot mailing began. Voters who do not receive a ballot card should mark their Official Sample Ballot with their choice of candidates for federal office and mail it back using the lilac envelope provided. Of course, voters who receive their ballot cards should mark those and return them."

Voters can also fax their ballots to the Registrar’s Office using one of five numbers located on the back of their instruction booklet.

Voters who may have inadvertently disposed of their ‘sample’ ballot, can go online to www.overseasvotefoundation.org and use the newly upgraded Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) offered to overseas and military voters whose ballots are lost or late.

“Our new Vote-Print-Mail Ballot system automates the FWAB process and presents voters with dynamically generated candidate lists so they can point, click, vote, and then print the ballot and send it to their election office,” explained Susan Dzieduszycka-Suinat, President and CEO of Overseas Vote Foundation (OVF).
