Clinton Remarks Post Blair Quartet Meeting
Remarks After Meeting With Quartet Envoy Tony Blair
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of State
Treaty
Room
Washington, DC
SECRETARY CLINTON: I’m very happy to welcome former Prime Minister Blair who, as you know, is the Quartet’s Representative in the Middle East, and has been working very hard on behalf of the principles that the Quartet put forward. He worked closely with General Jim Jones, who now is our National Security Advisor, on security and development issues in the West Bank. He’s now working with General Dayton, who is continuing that mission. And he has met with former Senator Mitchell and others at the State Department and the White House to continue our efforts to work through the strategy that we want to pursue and that Senator Mitchell is spearheading for us. So I’m very glad to welcome him to the State Department to be brought up to date on his views and ideas about the way forward.
MR. DUGUID: Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
SECRETARY
CLINTON: Thank you.
