Fire Victims
Solomon Islands Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua today expresses sympathy to the Government and People of Australia over the loss of lives and property caused by the recent bushfire that destroyed various parts of the State of Victoria, and the devastating floods in Northern Australia.
In a letter to his Australian counterpart, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Dr Sikua said Solomon Islanders today shared thoughts and prayers with Australians, in particular, those affected by the tragic natural disasters.
“As a small country that has experienced the wrath of natural disasters including last week’s floods in North West Guadalcanal, we can feel and experience the loss and grief that your country, in particular the families of the victims are currently going through over the loss of their loved ones and properties,” Dr Sikua said.
Prime Minister Sikua said the Solomon Islands Government is grateful for the Assistance that Australia has recently provided to the victims of the recent floods in North West Guadalcanal.
“We pray and wish those affected by the bush fire and floods in your great country, a speedy recovery,” Dr Sikua said.
