Serbs for Justice and Democracy, the organisation that supports the defamation case of Australian citizen Daniel Snedden against Nationwide News (The Australian), that starts today, issued the following statement this morning:
"Dragan Vasiljkovic, who Anglicized his name to Daniel Snedden when as a young boy he emigrated to Australia with his mother in the 1970's, is suing the proprietor of The Australian newspaper (Nationwide News Pty Ltd) in the Supreme Court of New South Wales for defamation over an article published on 8 September 2005 (Proceedings No. 20389 of 2005). This case has been set down for trial for four weeks starting 20 April 2009.
The Australian is not defending the truth of its article which a Supreme Court Jury found to have been defamatory of Daniel Snedden but wishes instead to assert the truth of allegations about Daniel Snedden's involvement in events surrounding the attack on Glina in July 1991. Daniel Snedden is determined to clear his name and has brought these proceedings to rebut the scandalous allegations that have been circulating about him."
