Don't Sit On Defence!
This week’s column asks, how come military spending by governments around the world keeps on rising remorselessly, even though peoples are fed up with war, and don’t see why precious public funds should be squandered on ever more elaborate weapons? And what can we do about it?
The answer, for those who live in or near Sydney, is to join a certificate training course in Peace Activism that we’re running here at CPACS, focused on Operation Talisman Sabre, the biennial ‘war game’ in Queensland in which Australian and US troops rehearse for the invasion of a Muslim country. More details in the column – and on request via email. The course costs $500, which includes $340 to cover the cost of transport and accommodation.
