Aung San Suu Kyi's Trial - Day Six

Day six of Aung San Suu Kyi's trial has been adjourned after her defence counsel cross-examine five prosecution witnesses.

The junta's special government court, convened in Rangoon's notorious Insein Prison, accepted the charges against Suu Kyi. She has been accused of violating the terms of her house arrest by allowing an American man, John William Yettaw, 53, to stay overnight at her compound after he swam across Inya Lake. On Monday the court announced it had concluded examining prosecution witnesses, and that it would begin to hear from defence witnesses on Tuesday.

Aung San Suu Kyi’s lawyers have submitted four witnesses. On Tuesday the first witness, veteran journalist Win Tin, will appear before the court. The identities of the other three defence witnesses remain undisclosed.
