Australia: The West Papua Issue
The West Papua Issue
The Australia West Papua Association (Sydney) is urging the Pacific Islands Forum leaders to discuss West Papua at the Forum in Cairns.
Joe Collins of AWPA said, “the human rights situation in West Papua will only improve if international pressure is put on Jakarta. The PIF is a key regional organization and the expressed collective concerns of the PIF about the human rights situation in West Papua could go some way to improve the grave human right situation in West Papua.
We also encourage the Forum to send a fact-finding mission to West Papua to investigate the human rights situation in the territory. Only by continuous outside investigation and pressure will the situation in West Papua improve.
