Video Footage of Police Shootings in West Papua
Video Footage of Police Shootings in West Papua
By George McLellan
On Tuesday the 1st of December Indonesian Police forces arrested a number of West Papuan separatists following a raising of the West Papua flag called the Morning Star Flag. It is an offence in the region to raise the flag. Below is a short youtube clip of the Police invading the community, gunshots can clearly be heard in the background, this is some of the first revealing footage to have come out of West Papua.
In West Papua there is no peace. There is no justice. There is no freedom of expression. There is no democracy. Only through independence will Papuans be free to exercise their fundamental human rights to freedom of expression. Let us hope that more footage emerges like this so that the Western Media start taking attention to the brutal oppression that the Indonesian authorities are enforcing on innocentPapuans.
