Sebby Sambom Was Released Prison In West Papua
We have
received confirmation that earlier today Sebby Sambom was
released from Abepura Prison in West Papua.
Sebby had been sentenced to 2 years in prison this summer following his part in a peaceful demonstration held to support the launch of International Parliamentarians for West Papua.
Early last week a Government official from Jakarta visited Abepura Prison to speak with a number of Papuan prisoners.
At this stage we only have confirmation that Sebby Sambom has been released early. Numerous other prisoners including Buchtar Tabuni, Victor Yiemo, Yusak Pakage and Filep Karma remain in custody.
A full update will be sent as we receive more news.
