Peter Spencer Tower Of Hope Property Rights Rally
Peter Spencer Tower Of Hope Property Rights Rally
Magna Carta Place and Parliament House, Tuesday 2nd February
Peter Spencer is now staying with family friends in Canberra and making preparations to speak at the Peter Spencer Tower of Hope Property Rights Rally in Canberra, tomorrow Tuesday 2nd February. Peter’s call on the Federal Government is unwavering - establish a Royal Commission to inquire into how the Australian Governments removed the land rights of Australian farming families to enable the Australian Government to meet its entire Kyoto greenhouse gas abatement Commitment, and pay the affected farmers on just terms.
The rally is being strongly supported by NSW Farmers Association who are undertaking a supporting publicity campaign and are providing free bus transport from around NSW and Queensland to Canberra. Thousands of passionate supporters including other affected Australian farming families across NSW, QLD and VIC will meet first at Magna Carta Place in Canberra from 10.00am, commencing with music, a sausage sizzle, poetry readings and media interviews. At 11:30am the supporters will move out from Magna Carta Place and march to the front of Parliament House in Federation Mall.
Renowned current affairs reporter Ben Fordham will facilitate and open proceedings before handing over to Master of Ceremonies, Alan Jones. Speakers will include Barnaby Joyce, Charles Armstrong, President NSW Farmers’ Association, Peter King, barrister who has represented Peter Spencer all the way up to the High Court, and Kevin Humphries, NSW National Party Member for Barwon.
Spencer’s 52 day long hunger strike on a wind monitoring mast at his property Saarahnlee has become a symbol of inspiration for farmers and other families affected by unfair property rights laws across Australia, leading to the mast being designated the Tower of Hope and tomorrow’s rally being designated the Peter Spencer Tower of Hope Property Rights Rally.
