Second Australian Soldier Identified AS Wounded IN 30th Of January Improvised Explosive Device Attack
A second Australian soldier has been identified as receiving minor wounds from a road-side bomb blast incident on the 30th of January 2010.
The second soldier received minor head injuries as a result of the blast. A medical assessment does not class his wounds as serious and he is reported as being in a satisfactory condition.
Both soldiers were wounded when the Bushmaster vehicle they were travelling in struck an improvised explosive device (IED). The second soldiers wounds were not reported initially as they only became apparent during subsequent medical checks of personnel involved in the road-side bomb blast.
The incident occurred while the soldiers were on patrol north of Tarin Kowt in southern Afghanistan.
The soldier is the second to have been wounded during operations for the year.
